Carbon fibre is the ultimate material to use when designing a car. It surpasses both steel and aluminium – in weight, strength and structure. That’s exactly why a carbon fibre monocoque forms the heart of every McLaren that leaves the factory. The cutting-edge design of the monocoque is lifted to a higher level in the 720S. The MonoCage II; the car’s traditional metal superstructure has been replaced with carbon fibre to create a single body shell. The MonoCage II helps keep the driver and passenger safe, while sleeker pillars enhance both cockpit space and visibility. And all this is combined with a reduced centre of gravity, breathing new life into the driving dynamics.
